Reducing waste

There are 2 considerations in regards to reducing waste. First is about the waste from house construction or demolition and second is about waste produced while living in the house.

To reduce waste from house construction or demolition you should try to reduce the amount of material going to landfills. This can be done by using recyclable or recycled materials. Another option is to use products from the neighbourhood, in this way you are saving transport costs and it is better for the environment.

Recycle demolition material itself?

To reduce waste while living in the house, you should look at reuse of water (as already mention in the water section). You can use “grey water”, wastewater from dishwashing or washing machines to flush toilets, wash cars etc.
