Earthship
Probably the most advertised sustainable house over the years. The house is built from materials that you would normally find on your local dumpsite, for example earth-filled tires, cans etc . The good part is that they take really the whole concept of an eco house – own water, own electricity, own food, reuse of water. The house is nearly self-sufficient. Some people, however, would not like the fact that the house is build from trash and that it looks like an earthship. More information on company website:

House of Environmental Building Technology
US based company, that builds houses from recycled Styrofoam and wood.
According to their website, it is easy to build “even kids can do it”. The costs should be around 1/3rd of the price of a conventional house and the house should be able to withstand a hurricane. More information on company website:
